Crossover Cover: Death Comes to Pemberley

In 1803, Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy and his wife Elizabeth become involved in the mystery of the murder of Elizabeth’s sister Lydia’s husband George Wickham. Mr. and Mrs. Knightley (from Jane Austen’s novel Emma) are described as the most important people in Highbury, and Wickham’s last employer is identified as Sir Walter Elliot (from Austen’s novel Persuasion). Miss Caroline Bingley is still alive at the time of the novel’s events, which does not fit with her death in 1795 in Win Scott Eckert’s story “The Wild Huntsman,” and therefore I consider this novel an AU.

Crossover Covers: The Mr. and Mrs. Darcy Mysteries

Win included the first five books in Carrie Bebris' Mr. and Mrs. Darcy Mysteries, which feature Fitzwilliam and Elizabeth Darcy from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice alongside characters from Austen's other novels, in the AU section of the original Crossovers volumes, as the chronology of Bebris' series does not fit with CU continuity, where the events of Pride and Prejudice must take place before 1795 due to Darcy and Elizabeth being married (and Elizabeth pregnant) when they were exposed to the radiation of the Wold Newton meteor. Two more books have appeared since then, and I will be including them in the AU section of the new volumes. The Deception at Lyme (Or, The Peril of Persuasion) features characters from Persuasion, while The Suspicion at Sanditon (Or, The Disappearance of Lady Denham) has the Darcys meeting characters from Austen's unfinished novel Sanditon.

Crossover Cover: Sharpe's Escape

In this Richard Sharpe novel, Rifleman Matthew Dodd, a member of Sharpe's South Essex Light Regiment Company, Rifleman Matthew Dodd, is separated from the regiment at the Battle of Bussaco. Author Bernard Cornwell has confirmed that this is the same Matthew Dodd who appears as the title character of C.S. Forester's novel Death to the French. There are other crossovers involving Sharpe as well. In the TV movie Sharpe's Justice, Sharpe meets Captain George Wickham of the Yorkshire Militia, who chronologically must be the son of George Wickham and Lydia Bennet from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Also, in the book Sharpe's Tiger, Sharpe steals the supposedly cursed diamond known as the Moonstone (from Wilkie Collins' novel of the same name) from Tippoo Sultan. Patrick Lassan, one of the protagonist of Cornwell's Starbuck Chronicles series, is Sharpe's son. Finally, Sharpe has a cameo in Simon Scarrow's The Fields of Death (which I have yet to read and write up, but plan to eventually), part of Scarrow's Revolution Quartet, four books which portray the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars from the point of view of the future Duke of Wellington and Napoleon Bonaparte. In The Fields of Death, Sharpe is only referred to as Richard.

Crossover Cover: Old Friends and New Fancies

This 1914 novel, which Win included in Volume 1, features characters from all six of Jane Austen's novels - Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey, and Persuasion.
