Eddie Mannix, a “fixer” for the movie studio Capitol Pictures, acts when actor Baird Whitlock is kidnapped and held for ransom by communist screenwriters.   Capitol Pictures first appeared in the Coens’ movie Barton Fink, which is in the CU through a third film directed by them, The Big Lebowski.
