Crossover Cover: The Lovecraft Squad: All Hallows Horror

 

Bob Chambers, an agent of the Human Protection League (HPL), reporter Karen Shepworth, and others investigate the strange phenomena associated with England's All Hallows Church, designed by Thomas Moreby. A passage from the Book of Eibon is quoted: “And you will face the Sea of Darkness, and all therein that may be explored.” Howard and Karen find themselves in Hell’s nine circles. Moreby served a power described as “the One Who Watches in Darkness” in the Liber de Nigra Peregrinatione, aka The Book of the Black Pilgrimage, which talks about the Black Cathedral and Chorazin. Thomas Moreby and the Liber de Nigra Peregrinatione are from another mosaic novel series created by Jones, Zombie Apocalypse!, to which this book serves as a prequel. Given the subject matter, that series must be an AU, and this novel’s references are to the CU versions of Moreby and the book. The quote “And you will face the Sea of Darkness, and all therein that may be explored” comes from Lucio Fulci’s movie The Beyond, which features the Book of Eibon prominently. The nine circles of Hell are from Dante’s Divine Comedy. The Black Pilgrimage to Chorazin is from M. R. James’ “Count Magnus.”
