The
British radio comedy series Tales
from the Mausoleum Club is
in the CU via mentions of the club in Kim Newman's Professor Moriarty
story "The Greek Invertebrate" and Josh Reynolds' Royal
Occultist story "The Unwrapping Party." In the first
episode of the show, "The
Inaudible Man,"
the
Honourable Clarence Green, applying to join the Mausoleum Club, names
the other clubs to which he already belongs, including the Club of
Queer Trades, bringing in G. K. Chesterton's short story collection
of the same name.
I bought a copy of the Club of Queer Trades. I need to read it. I know that Father Brown is in the CU, but I think this is the only other thing by him.
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly is the premise of Mausoleum Club aside from it being about a British gentleman's club? (As oppose to an American Gentleman club which are strip joints.)
Speaking of clubs, you've probably already seen the Wikipedia page for the Diogenes club but it lists it's appearances in other media...

This page explains the premise of the series pretty well:

Thanks.
DeleteYou know there is a whole segment of the CU around Briish clubs: Diogenes Club, Drones Club, and in America, Cobalt Club.
Speaking of G K Chesteron, has anyone included The Man Who Was Thursday?
ReplyDeleteNot that I can remember.
DeleteI'm pretty sure the only other thing by Chesterton is the Father Brown stories.
